Where the story started, 40 years ago...

Since 1960, Bruno Lafourcade has been restoring properties in the Perigord region of France.

In this area, the golden age of the châteaux was : La Renaissance, when the Italian influence was strong. The financial means increased greatly after the 100 years war. The development of sharecropping, the business in the Dordogne valley and the very low cost of iron contributed to the construction of Châteaux and manor houses.

Château de Rocanadel

Here half of the Château has been rebuilt.

Built on a rock, the Château of Rocanadel was erected on the place of a former castle whose defending function was important. A beautiful legend tells that a young blue-eyed lady of the manor was kidnapped by an Arabian black-eyed chief. Today, the restored castle is worth its former magnificence.

Hôtel de Mirandole

"The Hôtel de Mirandole" is situated in the old town of Sarlat and belongs to the beautiful private mansions there. It was modified during the centuries, the most ancient part would date back to the XIIth century. Its present condition is characteristic of the XVIIth century. The 3 floors are linked together by a stone staircase. Every room corresponding to every floor is decorated with a French style ceiling. The restaurant existed since 1970, when Bruno Lafourcade restored it.
