La Bastide des Guis in the Luberon

Restoration of an elegant bastide set in a typically Provençal landscape of lavender and olive trees.

The owners fell under the spell of "this bastide standing tall against the Luberon massif, where everything about the architecture, with its striking whitewashed façade, gives an impression of warmth and friendliness".

In the Luberon: an ideal holiday home, designed for larger families and friends

The buildings in general had been well maintained, but French architect Alexandre Lafourcade took a completely new approach to upgrading and modernising the interior. Lafourcade Architecture set to work redesigning spaces, renovating bathrooms, re-arranging the kitchen and, in the main drawing-room, creating new floor-to-ceiling windows in the style of an orangery. Custom-made furnishings and a natural oak floor fused practicality and style, in keeping with the spirit of this bastide.
