Alexandre and Céline Lafourcade, who are passionate about historic buildings, are keen to discover new places: abandoned country houses, dilapidated châteaux and run-down villas. Every building they come across during their search sparks a desire to undertake restoration projects. A visionary, Alexandre immediately envisions the end result. Céline, an expert work coordination, plans the work. One day, they heard about the Mas le Gaudre in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. When they visited, it was love at first sight! This old farmhouse, which had not been altered for a hundred years, really caught their attention. It had all the ingredients of a Provençal farmhouse, making it the perfect large family home to welcome their five children and grandchildren. To keep the family spirit alive, Céline enlisted the help of her daughter, the young interior designer Juliette Macherey, and Dominique Lafourcade, Alexandre's mother, to design the gardens around the swimming pool and to the north. Alexandre reconfigured each space and created a huge vaulted kitchen in the farmhouse, which now has eight bedrooms and their en-suite bathrooms. In the meantime, the Lafourcade family decided to move to the Var. They then came up with the idea of offering the farmhouse for rent, providing a manager who also worked as a chef, as well as a personalised concierge service. And so, for the first time, it became possible to rent a 'Lafourcade house' and experience the Lafourcade style.
